Tour, backpacker, travelling, or whatever you name it as travelling from one place to another. One of tourism that can be chooses to improve our knowledge, its ecotourism. There is a lot of choice out there, both inside or outside country. Both near with sea or near with mountain or river? Just like in Sangatta, in East Kutai, Kabo Jaya village. This village directly stands side by side with prevab, the jungle zone in Kutai National Park to research about orang utan.
Kabo Jaya, now are in process to create ecotourism village, or later known as Eco Kabo Jaya. PILI work together with Kutai National Park, Mitra Kutai work together to help Kabo Jaya people to improve their potential on ecotourism. In this village contain a lot of story, first, this village stand as different culture. From NTT, Bugis, Java, Tana Toraja, etc. it’s not very huge but it’s containing with many social, traditional, ecology value inside.
In Java village, we can see agro industry there, we can learn how to plant, to choose a good seed, counting the peak season, harvesting, etc. Also there is fish pool that manages by community, we can learn how to feed the fish, to choose the best fish as new seed, and anything about fishery here. In Bugis village, we can pick Salak fruit, orange fruit and also we can learn about the cultivation itself. Also there tofu fabric, we can see that soybean can turn in to tofu, milk, tempe, etc. This is a simple way to learn and get the value of traveling. And don’t be too afraid, this village has maintain their heritage, just like in kampong Timor, they have recently perform Gawi traditional dancing, that perform in weddings gala. It is a nice runaway from our hectic activity, just lay in home stay, get the value of this ecotourism, and come home again with improve knowledge.
